Alan Brown, The University of Surrey’s Business School

Alan Brown Portrait

Dr Alan Brown is Professor in Entrepreneurship and Innovation at The University of Surrey’s Business School in the UK. Alan is a Distinguished Engineer at IBM Rational software. His most recent post at the company was as IBM Rational Chief Technology Officer (CTO) for Europe. In that role he worked with customers across Europe consulting on software engineering strategy relating to enterprise solutions, process improvement, and the transition to agile practices. His latest book is called "Enterprise Software Delivery: Bringing Agility and Efficiency to the Global Software Supply Chain" and was published by Pearson/Addison-Wesley Professional in June 2012.


Donal O’Connell, Chawton Innovation Services

Donal is the Managing Director of Chawton Innovation Services; helping clients to appreciate their intellectual capital, assets and property, and to ensure that they then manage these intangibles in an efficient and effective manner. He is also an Adjunct Professor at Imperial College Business School in London, and teach some electives there on 'IP management', 'open innovation and the role of IP' as well as 'services innovation and IP'.
Donal formally worked at Nokia for 21 years and has wide and varied experience in the wireless telecoms industry, having worked for periods in various countries. He has also written two books titled “Inside the Patent Factory” & “Harvesting External Innovation”. He is a founding member of INTIPSA (www.intipsa.com), an organisation dedicated to promoting IP strategy.


Adrian Reed, Blackmetric Business Solutions

Adrian Reed is a Consulting Lead Business Analyst who is passionate about the analysis profession. He is Principal Consultant and Director at Blackmetric Business Solutions, where he provides business analysis consultancy and training solutions to a range of clients in varying industries. He is a director of the UK chapter of the IIBA, and a member of the team that runs Pragnalysis.com (a site providing a free BA toolkit including templates). Adrian is a true advocate of the analysis profession, and is constantly looking for ways of promoting the value that good analysis can bring. Colin Weaver, esuasive

Colin Weaver Portrait

Colin specialises in programme and project management, with a strong focus on ‘Agile’. Colin began his career in IT in the Financial Services sector. He then moved into a team leading role at Nuclear Electric (now British Energy), before joining esuasive in 2001. He is influential in evolving and extending esuasive’s agile practice, but he still very much enjoys a ‘hands on’ role and in the last couple of years he has delivered several agile projects in the retail, financial services and telecommunications industries. An accomplished trainer and an easy-to-listen-to speaker who likes to get to the core of a debate and to focus on the practical issues surrounding agile software development, Colin contributes regularly to conferences and within the wider agile community.


David Reinhardt, BSG (UK)

David Reinhardt is passionate about helping organisations effect meaningful change. He takes a customer-centric view of change projects, considering what the benefit of the change is on the end-user. He has a strong belief that delivering benefits is more important than completing project plans for the sake of the deadline and recognises that this sometimes make for uncomfortable conversations. David has a particular interest in emerging technology with a particular focus on social media in the enterprise. He has a strong belief in the power of this technology to connect large (and small) teams and enable people to engage the knowledge and experience of their colleagues. David currently runs BSG (UK)’s consulting operation. He has a background in business analysis and programme delivery. He has more than twelve years experience in design and delivery of IT enabled change programmes having worked in consultancy in London, Johannesburg and Cape Town.

Nick de Voil Portrait

Nick de Voil is Member Experience Director for IIBA UK Chapter - the UK branch of the International Institute of Business Analysis. IIBA is the worldwide independent non-profit professional association for business analysts, publishing the Business Analysis Body of Knowledge and providing a range of related certifications.


John Deverell, Deverell Associates

John Deverell Portrait

John Deverell CBE of Deverell Associates is a well-known authority on how to prepare for and handle crisis and risk. In the Army he reached General Officer rank before departing for commercial life. He worked for Invensys plc as a member of their Executive Leadership Team and then founded his own company. He has an MPhil from Cambridge University in International Relations and a diploma in negotiation and mediation from Kent University. He has presented many times on TV and radio and written for publication on crisis management, amongst other subjects.


John Hackett, Franklin-Hackett Ltd

John is Managing Director of Franklin-Hackett Ltd, a boutique consultancy service delivering organisational improvement through Change Alchemy. John spent 8 years working to deliver transformation within the UK public sector. Along the way he acquired experience of a number of change related roles, spending time working as a business analyst, a project manager, a change leader and managing the customer service departments for two organisations. Having left full-time employment to start a new consultancy business, John now spends his time delivering improvement programmes and training courses for client organisations, as well as writing articles and delivering addresses at key events. He is interested in the intersection of people and systems and continues to develop an approach to organisational transformation he calls “Change Alchemy”.
