Enterprise Information Governance

Published 27 Nov 2014

The diffusion of information and communications technology (ICT) is in every area of our society and our everyday lives.   The volume, velocity and variety of this data is increasing by leaps and bounds every day. Business applications are moving from desktops to a variety of mobile devices, so information now resides now on the premises or in the cloud.  Added to this is the ever increasing volumes from mergers and acquisitions and the legacy of adoption of disparate and disconnected IT systems.

The firewall now is no longer an effective boundary and so enforcing information management policies and compliances is getting even harder. So it is now essential to explore a corporate governance strategy.  There is an urgent need to align organisational technology and business objectives and articulate this vision to employees, key partners and external stakeholders.  For data to be of any value needs to be relevant for a well-defined decision maker, whether it is a business analyst or a person taking the bus.

But the challenges for effective management of this volume of information, as well as confirm to the various complex regulatory and legislative mandates is not easy. But the rewards are considerable: lower costs; reduced business and legal risks; improved efficiency and productivity that will produce value for the enterprise.  This conference outlines the value of Information Governance and shows how it is critical “active compliance” is for the protection and preservation of content.
