Dr Nikolaos Vlastakis is Lecturer in Finance and director of finance postgraduate courses at Essex business school. In the past he has held a lectureship at Cranfield University. He read for his doctorate at the Department of Management Science and Technology, Athens University of Economics and Business (AUEB), Greece. After undergraduate studies in economics, he obtained an MSc in Engineering-Economic Systems from National Technical University of Athens, and an MSc in Decision Sciences from AUEB. His professional experience includes over 10 years of consulting for organizations in the private and public sector. His current research interests lie in the areas of empirical finance and quantitative methods and, in particular, the role of information in financial markets. His work has been published in high-profile peer-reviewed journals, including the Journal of Banking and Finance, the Journal of Futures Markets and the Journal of Forecasting.
